Ethiopia Logs 63 Covid Cases, Zero Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 63 new covid-19 cases in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the confirmed total to 492, 816, according to the Ministry of health’s report for Monday.

Only 19 patients of Covid-19 have also recuperated in the same period, the Covid report issued on Monday evening said. The national recovery count currently stands at 471, 031.

Currently, there are 14, 208 confirmed active cases of Covid-19 in the country. At least 13 of these patients are severely sick and are hospitalized, the report shows.

No Covid-related fatalities have been recorded in the reported period in the country where respiratory disease claimed the lives of at least 7,571 so far.

The pace of the National covid-19 vaccine drive has remained stagnant with no vaccine doses given to the public in the last 24 hours as per the latest update.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 52.56 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Over 43.1% of its citizens have also been fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus, its health officials say.

The East African nation launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign in March 2021 and plans to reach 60% immunization coverage in the last quarter of 2023.
