Ethiopia Reports 178 New Covid-19 Cases as vaccine Deliveries Pick up

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 178 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections after conducting at least 6273 tests on Saturday.

A further 10 Coronavirus-related deaths and 125 recoveries were also recorded in the same day, taking the death toll to 6,672 and recoveries tally to 346, 672, says the ministry of health in its Covid-19 daily report.

There are now 265 severely sick patients receiving treatment in medical centers, claims the report, which puts the confirmed active cases number at 16, 708.

Health officials have continued to push ahead with the national vaccination campaign as part of the country’s effort to tackle the pandemic.

The report shows a total of 128, 638 doses of Covid-19 Vaccines were administered nationwide on Saturday – the highest daily vaccine delivery since health officials Step the national vaccine drive this week.

Ethiopia began providing the Covid-19 vaccine on March 13, this year. Since then, it has fully inoculated more than 3.91 million people against the Covid-19 while offering more than 5.3 million doses to the public.

The immunization campaign involves Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm, and targets to vaccinate about 22 million people by January.
