Ethiopia Records 185 Covid Cases, One Death

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 185 more Covid-19 infections and one related fatality in the last twenty-four hours, its ministry of health reports.

The report published on Thursday evening says the newly identified infections have brought the nation’s confirmed tally to 490, 031. 

About 466, 321 of these Covid-19 patients have already recuperated from the disease with about 213 of the recoveries recorded today, the report says.

The severe cases count has remained the same for the last two consecutive days. Health officials say 48 seriously sick covid patients are getting treatments in medical centers.

These patients are among the 16,159 confirmed active cases of Covid nationwide.

Ethiopia’s Coronavirus-related fatality total has also reached 7,549 after one patient succumbed to the disease today.

Health officials have also continued to provide the covid vaccine to the public on Thursday. In the last 24 hours, close to 16, 000 doses of the covid shots have been given to the public nationwide, the ministry reports.

The newly offered doses have brought the total of covid vaccine shots administered in Ethiopia to more than 52.2 million.

Nearly 42.8 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine in Ethiopia.

Health officials, who launched the national vaccine drive in March 2021, plans to reach 60% COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
