ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 325 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the confirmed total to 488,433, a ministry of health report shows.

At least 496 Covid patients have also recovered from the Covid-19 disease in the past twenty-four hours, the report says. This has taken the recovery count, so far, to 460, 312.

Today’s relative spike in recovery cases today has pushed the active cases tally down by 172 to 20,583.

However, two more Covid patients have been admitted to the hospital after they become seriously ill on Wednesday.

There are now a total of 46 severely sick patients getting medical treatments inside medical centers, according to the report.

It also says the nation’s Covid-related death toll has reached 7,536 after one patient succumbed to the virus today.

Health officials are still urging 12-year-olds and above to get the Covid vaccine shot to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from the deadly virus.

Ethiopia started offering Covid vaccine shots to its citizens in March of last year. Since then, it has administered close to 52 million doses of the Covid vaccine.

More than 42.62 million people have also been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to the latest report.
