COVID-19: Ethiopia Reports Nearly 1000 New Case over the weekend

ADDIS ABEBA – Nearly 1000 more cases of covid-19 and 15 deaths have been registered in Ethiopia over the weekend, according to the Ministry of Health.

The country tested more than 11, 000 people on Saturday and Sunday to identify a total of 987 new positive cases.

A further 15 people have passed due to the respiratory disease, pushing the death toll 1,806, according to health officials.

The nation currently has over 21, 000 confirmed active cases. Of these, 314 patients are in critical condition, the ministry reported on Sunday.

Over the weekend, at least 2681 patients have regained their health, bringing the total number of recoveries to nearly 94, 000.

To date, the East African Nation has tested more than 1.7mln people for coronavirus and confirmed 116, 769 infections.

Ethiopia’s first coronavirus case was identified on March 13, 2020.
