Algerian Businesses Invited to Invest in Ethiopia’s Agro-Processing, Pharmaceutical Sectors

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Ambassador in Algeria, Nebiat Getachew, paid a working visit to Algeria’s port city of Wilaya of Annaba, where he invited Algerian investors to tap Ethiopia’s Agro-Processing and pharmaceutical sectors.

During his two-day visit started on June 24, the ambassador attended  the opening of ALPHARMA, a pharmaceutical exhibition, officially inaugurated by Berrimi Djamel Eddine, Wali of Annaba, along Sami Mohamed Agli, the President of the Algerian Confederation of  Employers (CAPC) and Mansouri Farid Mohamed Riad, President of the Annaba Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

The ambassador also held discussions with the President of the Annaba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its members on enhancing commercial ties between Ethiopia and Algeria, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

In his engagement with the Annaba business community and participants of the fair, the Ethiopian envoy underscored the need to work collaboratively to establish and strengthen ties in the pharmaceutical sector where there is quite an attractive opportunity In Ethiopia for Algerian operators. 

The ambassador’s visit also included a site visit to MMB- Mansouri Metal Box, Algeria’s leading canning industry that plays a key role in the packaging and distribution of agro-processed products of Algeria for local and export businesses.  

Ambassador Nebiat noted the importance of packaging for agro-processing and invited MMB  to participate in Ethiopia’s agro-processing sector by explaining the investment Incentives and the availability of Industrial parks designated for agro-processing companies willing to invest in Ethiopia. 

Ethiopia and Algeria established a joint business council to facilitate trade and investment on August 3, 2021
