Ethiopia, India Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties   

ADDIS ABABA – President Sahle-Work Zewde has met with the visiting Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jaishankara Subrahmanyam, on Wednesday to discuss bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and India.  

Sahle-work and Subrahmanyam discussed cooperation in various areas including education, health, and investment, , according to the Indian embassy in Addis Ababa.

The two sides have also exchanged perspectives on the regional and international situation in the meeting held on Wednesday afternoon. 

During the discussion, both expressed their satisfaction with the excellent relations and affirmed their readiness to further strengthen the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, said the president’s office.

President Sahle-work commended India for its principled and constructive position at the UN Security Council, particularly on issues related to Ethiopia.

Earlier today, FM Jaishankar inaugurated the Embassy of India’s Chancery building and Residential Complex in Addis Ababa in the presence of Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs of Ethiopia.
