A 5.8 Billion Birr Steel Mill Inaugurated in Dukem Town

ADDIS ABABA – A steel factory built at a cost of 5.8 billion Birr has been inaugurated in Dukem town of Oromia State on Saturday.

The steel plant constructed by Tadash Steel Manufacturing Industry is reported to have a capacity to produce 600 steel bars in a day.

The plant with a capacity to melt  450 tons of iron ore per day is expected to 700 job opportunities.

Officials said the steel mill would play a significant role in saving foreign currency being spent on steel products import. The factory would also additional capacity to the construction and industrial sectors, said  Minister of Mines Takele Uma. 

Apart from Minister, Oromia Regional State Chief Administrator Shimeles Abdissa and other senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.
