Italian FM Begins Visit to Ethiopia 

ADDIS ABABA – Foreign Minister of Italy, Luigi Di Maio has started his two-day long official visit to Ethiopia on Sunday afternoon. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen accorded the Foreign Minister a warm welcome upon his arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

In Ethiopia, Foreign Minister Di Maio is scheduled to meet with President Sahle Work Zedwe, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, said the Italian embassy in Addis Ababa.

The minister will also hold a meeting with representatives of the Italian business community in Ethiopia before departing for Kenya..

Italian embassy said Foreign Minister Di Maio’s mission to Ethiopia and Kenya confirms Italy’s attention to the continent and in particular the Horn of Africa. 

“This mission testifies to the will to strengthen the partnership between Italy and Africa, a Continent that is at the center of Italy’s international agenda,” said the embassy.

On Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 June Minister Di Maio will continue his mission to Kenya, where he will meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and Foreign Minister Raychelle Omamo.
