Ethiopia Logs 344 New Covid Infections, 37 Recoveries
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 344 new infections of Covid-19 on Friday as its active cases count continues to increase, reveals a ministry of health report.
Over 4, 300 people have been tested for coronavirus in the last twenty-four hours to identify the latest positive cases, the ministry notes.
Today’s infection figure has taken the nation’s confirmed cases total to 473, 979.
In the same period, the report says only 37 Covid patients have regained their health, bringing the recovery count to 456, 096.
The daily infection which outpaced the recovery rate has pushed the confirmed active cases total by more than 300 to 10, 367.
Three patients have also been admitted to Covid Clinics after they become seriously sick. This has brought the severe cases total to 15, according to the report.
However, the ministry has not confirmed any Coronavirus-induced fatality in the reported period as the death toll stays at 7, 514.
The vaccination pace is still at standstill with the latest report showing no additional data regarding the vaccine offer.
Health officials recently revealed their plan to roll out the third round nationwide vaccination campaign in the first half of June.
The previous two saw Ethiopia administered close to 29.45mln doses of the Covid-19 vaccine nationwide. Over 24.5 million Ethiopians are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus since the first vaccine shot was given in March 2021.
