ADDIS ABABA – The ministry of health has reported 169 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the confirmed total in Ethiopia to 472, 048.
Nearly 7, 000 people were tested in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the latest infections, a health officials’ report claims.
In the same period, the report says only 10 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the national recovery count to 455, 855.
Currently, there are 8, 678 confirmed active cases in the country. Thirteen of them are severely sick, the report claims.
Zero Covid-induced fatality has been reported in the past 24-hours as the number of days without confirmed death extends to three. The national Covid death toll stays at 7, 513.
The vaccination still stands at standstill with the health ministry reporting no additional data regarding the immunization push.
Health authorities offered the first Covid-19 vaccine shot to the public in March, 2021.
Since then they have administered close to 29.45mln doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Recently, the ministry of health announced that preparations are ongoing to roll out the country’s third round vaccine drive, beginning early June.
