FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Ethiopia Secure Final Round Ticket
ADDIS ABABA – The national team secured the final round ticket of the African race to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2022 after a 3-1 aggregate win over South Africa.
Ethiopia hosted South Africa for the third round, second leg match, on Sunday, and lost 0-1.
Andriella Miba scored the only goal of the match in 37 minute for South Africa.
Ethiopia, however, progressed to the final playoff in aggregate thanks to the first 3-0 win in the first game played in Johannesburg.
The youngsters will battle with Nigeria for a place at this year’s U17 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigeria women’s U17s advanced to the final round after they shot past Egypt 6-0 on aggregate to reach the final playoff round.
India will host the U17 women’s World Cup in October.
