Ethio-Engineering Signs Tractor Supply Deal with Somali Region
ADDIS ABABA – Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) and Somali region have signed an agreement for a supply of tractors and implements worth 174 million birr.
The deal was signed between CEO of EEG, Meseganu Arega, and head of the regional State, Mustafa Omer, in Jigjiga city on Friday.
The agreement, amounting over 174.1 million birr, enables EEG to supply 162 tractors and 324 implements, including disc plough and harrow, to the region.
The machinery are currently being produced at EEG’s Adama Agricultural Machinery Industry – one of the nine subsidiary industries of the group that assembles and manufactures various agricultural machinery.
CEO Meseganu said the latest accord would give the EEG to play its role in the efforts to modernize the region’s overall agricultural activities .
He requested the state to facilitate the establishment of agricultural machinery post-sell services in the state.
The State administrator Mustafa reiterated that the region will provide due attention for the agriculture sector.
The focus will particularly increase next year, not only to reduce the impacts of drought but also contain the ever increasing inflation, he added.
The newly signed agreement is a part of that effort to do so, he said.
