New Ambassadors Take Oath before President Sahle-work

ADDIS ABABA – President Shale-Work Zewde has presided over the swearing-in ceremony of new Ethiopian ambassadors today.



Addressing the new ambassadors, the President said that “representing Ethiopia is a privilege as well as huge responsibility”.

The president reminded them that Ambassadorship “is work for our national interests.”

She urged them to establish a close relationship in their duty country, to become the “eyes and ears, mouth and voice of Ethiopia” and ensure the flag flies high.

Meaza Ashenafi, President of the Federal Supreme Court , administered the ambassadors’ oath, in a ceremony attended by senior government officials including Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.



The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister recalled and appreciated recent diplomatic triumphs further calling on the ambassadors to create allies to their country restraining themselves from stretching things to their limits.

He also highlighted the need to engage Ethiopians in the Diaspora to the affairs of their homeland and protect their rights in their countries’ of residence.
