Ethiopia Reports Zero Covid Deaths, 21 More Cases
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported zero Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease related deaths and 21 new infections on Thursday, a ministry of health report shows.
This is for the fourth time since Sunday that the nation recorded zero fatality. The death toll remains at 7,491.
The ministry has also recorded significantly higher recovery cases than new infections in the past twenty-four hours.
Its report says 21 news infections of Covid-19 cases have been registered in the reported period, taking the confirmed cases total to 469,544.
As many as 1,945 patients have regained their health in the same period. This has pushed the recovery total to 429,269.
The increase in recovery total brings the active cases total down to 32, 782.
The nation now has only 16 seriously sick patients of Covid-19 receiving medical treatments, the report notes.
– Vaccine Drive –
Ethiopia, which started offering the vaccine to the public in March 2021, has continued to step up its vaccine drive with a second phase campaign launched in mid February.
Close to 40, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered nationwide in the past 24-hours, the report reveals.
This figure has taken the total doses given in the country so far to more than 29.3 million.
Over 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the virus, the report says.
