Ethiopian Airlines Group Gets New CEO, Board Members

ADDIS ABABA – Mesfin Tasew has been appointed as the new CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.



The appointment was made by the newly established Board of Management of Ethiopian Airlines Group.

The Board Chairman Girma Wake announced the new CEO of Ethiopian, replacing Tewolde Gebremariam whose early retirement request was approved on Wednesday.

Mesfin is currently working as CEO of Asky airline based in Lomé, Togo, a West African airline and airline is a strategic partner of Ethiopian Airlines, and has been consistently profitable since 2017.

Board Chairman, Girma said Mesfin, who has been in the industry for 38 years, has accepted the appointment.



The old board was replaced this week with Girma as its chairman.

The Board includes Teklewold Atnafu, former Governor of National Bank of Ethiopia and Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Temesgen Tiruneh, Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Service have appointed as board members of the Airlines

The new board also includes Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa, Commander of the Ethiopian Air Force, and Tadesse Tilahun, CEO of National Oil Ethiopia PLC (NOC).
