Ethiopia Logs 29 Covid Infections, Severe Cases Continue to Drop

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 29 fresh Coronavirus cases on Wednesday as the number of severely sick patients continues to drop.

The latest infections, identified from 5,185 tests carried out in the last twenty-four hours, take the confirmed cases count to 469, 523, a ministry of health report reveals.



It also notes that the country has also recorded the first Covid-induced fatalities of the week after two patients succumb to the coronavirus.

The national Coronavirus-related death toll now stands at 7, 491.

On the same day, the severe cases total has dropped by 6 as compared to the previous day.

Currently, about 17 seriously sick patients of Covid-19 are in ICU, says the report that puts the active case tally at 34, 706.

The report also says as many as 1, 987 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, pushing the recovery count to 427,324.



Health officials have continued offering the Covid-19 vaccine to the public on Wednesday.

About 18, 876 doses of Covid vaccines have been administered to the public in the 24-hours period, reveals data from the ministry.

The ongoing vaccine drive started on March 13, 2021. Since then, the country has given close to 29.3 million shots of the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens.

Nearly 24.5 million people are fully vaccinated, reports the ministry of health.
