Ethiopia Administers over 1.8mln Vaccine Doses in a day

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has today administered more than 1.8 million doses of Covid vaccine and recorded the lowest new daily infections Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) since the start of the new year.

The rate of vaccination at the national level is increasing significantly since health officials launched a second round immunization campaign earlier this week.



The daily health ministry report shows that a total of 1,866,822 vaccine doses have been administered in the past twenty-four hours.

The figures has take total number of people who received their first shots to more than 16.3 million.

More than 13.6 million have also been fully vaccinated since the country started offering the vaccine in March, 2021.

The report also says the nation has recorded only 50 new cases of Covid-19 on the same day, the lowest daily fresh infections in the year 2022.



The latest case figure identified from over 4,500 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, brings the confirmed total to 468, 284.

The country has also recorded 3 Covid-induced fatalities and 102 recoveries, bringing its death toll to 7, 238 and recoveries tally to 409, 625, respectively

There are currently 51, 219 active cases. Of these, 132 patients are seriously ill, says the Ministry.

Despite the latest drop in daily cases, health officials are still urging the public to observe the Covid protocol put in place, including wearing face masks and getting vaccinated, to protect themselves and their families from the deadly disease.
