Ethiopia Reports 40 New Covid-19 Cases, one Death
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 40 new Covid-19 infections and one related death on Tuesday.
The latest positive cases have been identified from close to 5,000 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report says.
One Covid-19 patient has also passed away after the country recorded zero fatalities for the past three days.
The national Covid death toll currently stands at 7,477, the report says.
The country also recorded fewer recoveries with only 6 patients recuperated from the disease in the reported period. The figure takes the recoveries total in the country so far to 420, 437.
At least 64 Covid-19 patients are seriously sick, says the report that puts the confirmed active cases tally in the nation at 41,131.
Meanwhile, health officials have continued to push ahead with the second round vaccination campaign camping in the past 24-hours.
More than 531, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given to the public in the reported period.
The figure has pushed the total doses of vaccine administered in the country to over 27.2 million, says the report. More than 22.5 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the deadly virus.
Ethiopia identified its first Coronavirus case in March, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 469, 047 infections after testing over 4.54 million people.
