Covid Vaccine Shots Given in Ethiopia Reaches over 25 Million
ADDIS ABABA – The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in Ethiopia exceeded the 25 million mark on Wednesday, a ministry of health report reveals.
The East African nation started offering the Covid vaccine to its citizens in March, 2021.
To date, it has administered 25, 135, 290 shots of the vaccine. Of these, more than 684, 000 of the total have been given in the last twenty-four hours, says the report.
This has helped for the number of fully vaccinated people to 20.7 million.
In the last twenty-four hours, the nation has confirmed only 16 new cases after testing nearly 4,000 people.
The figure is one of the lowest daily infections the country has recorded in more than a year.
A further four Coronavirus-induced fatalities have also been registered on the same day, pushing the death toll to 7,467.
There are at least 82 severely sick Covid-19 patients currently receiving medical treatments, says the report that puts the active cases count at 41,808.
The report says about 947 patients have also recovered from the disease, taking the recovery tally to 419, 509.
To date, the East African nation has confirmed 468, 786 cases after conducting more than 4.5 people.
