Ethiopia Reports 43 New Covid Cases, Active Cases Continue to Drop

ADDIS ABABA – The number of active cases of Covid-19 in Ethiopia has continued to drop as the Ministry of Health reported 43 more Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.

The latest positive cases have been identified from 6,570 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, according to the report.



As many as 1,402 patients have also recuperated from Covid in the reported period, pushing the total of recoveries to 418, 563.

The increase in recovery has also brought the confirmed active cases in the nation to drop by more than 1, 350 and reach 42, 742.

One Covid-19 patient succumbed to the virus on the day, says the report that puts the national death toll at 7,463.

Currently, there are 87 seriously sick Covid patients currently receiving treatments in medical centers.

Despite the recent decreasing trend of active and new cases, health officials are still urging the public to continue wearing masks and follow other protocols put in place.

They are also urging the public to get their vaccine shot as the nation continues to push ahead with its second round vaccination campaign on Tuesday.



In the last 24-hours alone, at least 171, 700 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public, the report shows.

The figure has taken the number of doses administered in the country to 24.45 million. Over 20 million people have also received their second shot, according to the ministry of health.

The East African nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case in March, 2020. Since then, it has identified a total of 468, 770 infections from 4.5 million tests conducted so far.
