Covid19: Ethiopia Registers 407 New Cases, 1,866 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – The Ministry of Health has reported 407 new Covid-19 infections on Monday, taking Ethiopia’s confirmed cases tally to 462, 514.

The country identified the latest positive cases from more than 6000 people tested in the last twenty-four hours.

Additional 21 Coronavirus-induced deaths have also been recorded in the reported period, taking the national death toll to 7,265, say the ministry’s report.

Currently, there are 361 seriously sick patients receiving medical treatments in hospitals.

The patients are among 67, 229 active cases in the country, the report notes.

As many as 1,866 patients have also recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the 24-hours period. The national recovery tally now stands at 388,018, according to the report.

Health officials are still urging the public to observe the health protocol put in place to prevent themselves from the virus including wearing face masks and getting vaccines.

Data from the ministry of health shows more than 7, 000 doses of vaccine have been offered to the public in the past 24-hours, as the vaccine drive resumed on Monday after days long pause.

The East African nation started giving the vaccine on March 13, 2021. To date, it has administered a total of 10, 972, 564 doses and vaccinated more than 9.37 million people fully.
