Hermela Aregawi Arrives in Addis Ababa

ADDIS ABABA – Hermela Aregawi, one of the popular leaders of #Nomore movement, arrived in Addis Ababa on Thursday as more Ethiopians living abroad continue to accept the government’s Great Homecoming Challenge.

“Accepted @PMEthiopia’s homecoming challenge! Thank you, Ethiopia for the gracious & warm welcome,” twitted Hermela after her arrival.


“I knew, one day – journalism would bring me back to my 1st home, but couldn’t have dreamed this. Ethiopia is overflowing w/ talented, good ppl. Best is yet to come! #NoMore,” she added.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials and Athlete Haile Gebresellasie warmly welcomed Hermela and her mother her mother Haregewoin Assefa (Prof) upon their arrival at Bole International Airport on Wednesday morning.

Hermela, a US citizen, was born in Addis Ababa. She moved to the USA at the age of seven and almost immediately got hooked on talk shows, namely The Oprah Winfrey Show and news magazine shows like 20/20 with Barbara Walters.

Among Ethiopians, she is well known for initiating the #NoMore movement along with other Ethiopian and Eritrean activists with an aim to oppose the ongoing Western media disinformation campaign, Western economic warfare, diplomatic propaganda and military interventions in Africa in general, and the Horn of Africa in particular.
