Covid: Ethiopia Records 4,011 New Cases, 12 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Covid-19 cases total has reached 432, 807 after recording 4,011 fresh infections on Tuesday.

The country conducted close to 13, 000 tests in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the positive cases, says a ministry of health report.

It has also registered 12 more Coronavirus-induced fatalities in the same period, pushing the national death toll to 6,891.

There are now 366 severely sick patients nationwide, says report that puts the confirmed active cases number at 67,983.

In the same period, it says as many as 844 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease.

The total number recoveries currently stands at 357,841.

Vaccine Drive

The East African nation has also continued to offer the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens in the last 24-hours.

During the period, nearly 7,000 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered to the public, the report indicates.

The latest figure has pushed the total number of doses given in the country close to 10.55 million while the fully vaccinated people reach over 9.36 million.

The government of Ethiopia started providing the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens on March 13, 202q – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
