Ethiopia Confirms 3, 779 New Coronavirus Cases, 7 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Covid-19 cases total has reached over 436, 500 after the Ministry of Health reported 3,779 fresh infections on Wednesday .

At least 10,750 people have been tested in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the positive cases.

The country has also recorded seven more Coronavirus-induced fatalities in the same period.

The national death toll currently stands at 6, 988, according to health officials Covid-19 report.

There are now 413 severely sick Covid-19 patients who are receiving medical treatments in hospitals, says the report.

They are among 70, 675 confirmed active cases in the East African nation.

As many as 1, 080 patients have also regained their health after being diagnosed for the acute respiratory illness, pushing the recovery tally to 358, 921.

Ethiopia confirmed its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has tested over 4.16 million people to identify a total of 436, 586 cases.

Health authorities have continued to push ahead with their vaccine drive today albeit at a smaller rate.

Only 886 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been offered to the public in the last 24-hours, the report shows.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 10.95 million doses and fully vaccinated over 9.36 million people.

The ongoing vaccination campaign started on March 13, 2021 – a week after the country received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
