Ethiopia Records 565 More Covid Case, 5-Related Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s confirmed Covid-19 cases count has reached 376, 375 after its ministry of health registered 565 new infections on Sunday.

The latest cases were identified from nearly 5, 300 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hour, a health officials Covid-19 report.

Five additional coronavirus- related fatalities and 49 recoveries have been recorded in the reported period, bringing the death toll to 6,866 and recoveries total to 350, 873.

Ethiopia currently has 150 seriously sick patients as the number remains the same for two consecutive days.

The patients are among 18, 634 confirmed active cases in the country, the Ministry of health reports.

Vaccine Drive

The Ministry has also continued to push ahead with its nationwide vaccination campaign today albeit at slow rate.

Only 1, 566 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country in the past 24-hours, the report reveals.

The ministry of health started providing the Covid vaccine to Ethiopia on March 13, 2021.

To date, it has offered a total of 10,620,502 doses to the public and fully immunised nearly 9.2 people against the virus.

The ongoing vaccine drive involves Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm.
