Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 296 New Cases, 4 related Deaths
ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia’s confirmed COVID-19 cases total has reached 373, 860 after its Ministry of Health reported 296 fresh cases on Wednesday.
The country conducted 5, 630 tests in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, indicates the ministry’s report.
Four more people have also passed away due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, taking the death toll tally to 6, 846.
There are now 16, 421 active cases of Covid-19 nationwide. Of which, the ministry says 160 are severely sick.
Only 74 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, taking the national recovery count to 350, 590, the ministry reports.
The ministry of health has today continued to push ahead with the national vaccination drive, which started on March 13, 2021.
As many as 15, 714 doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the last twenty fours, today’s report reveals.
The figure has pushed the number of doses offered so far close to more than 10.5 million and the fully vaccinated Ethiopians total to over 9 million.
The immunization campaign, which involves a range of vaccines including J&J, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm, targets to inoculate over 20 million people by January.
