Covid-19: Ethiopia Reports 324 More Infections, 9 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 324 new infections of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Tuesday as the active cases tally exceeded 16, 000 mark.

More than 6, 100 people have been tested in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the latest positive infections, says the ministry of health in its daily report.

Both the number of tests and daily cases are one of the highest in the recent weeks.

The East African nation has also recorded 9 more Coronavirus-induced deaths in the reported period, pushing the national death toll to 6, 842.

Currently, there are 154 seriously ill Covid-19 patients receiving medical treatments nationwide.

The patients are among 16, 203 confirmed active cases which show ann increasing trend as new daily cases outnumbered recoveries recently.

As many as 105 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, taking the national tally to 350, 517, according to health officials report.

Health officials have also continued their vaccine drive launched in March, this year, as part of a national response to stop the spread of the pandemic.

Ethiopia has so far provided close to 10.5 million doses of Covid vaccine to the public.

About 36, 400 of the total doses offered have been administered in the last twenty-four hours, according to the ministry of health.

To date, the Ministry has so far managed to fully immunize a total of 9, 042, 289 its citizens against the Covid-19.
