Coronavirus: Ethiopia Records 132 Cases, 7 Related Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia on Saturday recorded 132 new infections of Covid-19 as confirmed infections tally tops 373, 000.
The country identified the new positive cases after conducting close to 5, 000 tests in the last twenty-four, according to the ministry of health’s report.
In the same period, the report says 7 Coronavirus-induced fatalities and 101 recoveries have been registered, bringing the death toll to 6, 829 and recoveries count to 350, 292.
There are now 168 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving medical treatments nationwide.
The patients are among 15, 877 confirmed active cases in the country, the report says.
Health officials are currently carrying out a national vaccination campaign as part of the government’s response to curb the spread of the pandemic.
As of Saturday evening, Ethiopia has offered 10.4 million doses of Covid vaccine to its citizens.
More than 40, 000 of these doses have been administered in the last twenty-four hours, the Ministry of health reports.
The East African nation started providing the vaccine to the public on March 13, 2021. Since then, nearly 9 million Ethiopians have been fully vaccinated against the disease.
