Coronavirus: Ethiopia Records 84 New Cases, 10 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 84 more novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and 10 related fatalities on Monday, data from the Ministry of Health shows.

In its daily report, the ministry reveals the country tested 4, 753 people in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the latest positive cases.



A further 10 Coronavirus-related deaths and 87 recoveries have also been registered in the reported period, taking the death toll to 6, 750 and recoveries count to 348, 886.

There are now 15, 708 confirmed active cases nationwide. Of these, 299 are severely sick, the report indicates.

The East African nation has so far confirmed 371, 346 Coronavirus infections after testing more than 3.86 million people.

– Vaccination Drive –

Health officials have continued to push ahead with their national vaccination campaign on Monday.



In the last twenty-four period, more than 235, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been offered to the public, says the report that puys the total doses administered in the country at 9, 015, 832.

Ethiopia started vaccinating its citizens on March 13, 2021. To date, its has fully vaccinated close to 7.6 million people against the virus.

The campaign, which is offering Johnson & Johnson, AstaraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines, plans to inoculate as many as 22 million people by January.
