Coronavirus: Ethiopia Reports 278 More Infections, 10 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Ethiopia has reached 367, 647 after its ministry of health reported 278 new infections on Tuesday.
The East African Nation identified the new positive cases after conducting nearly 6, 000 tests in the past twenty=four hours, says the ministry in its daily Covid-19 report.
The country has also recorded 10 coronavirus-induced deaths and 115 more recoveries in the same period, bringing the death tally to 6, 561 and recoveries count to 343, 546.
Currently, there are 391 seriously sick Covid-19 patients, receiving medical treatment. They are among 17, 538 confirmed active cases in the country, the report says.
– Immunization Push –
Health officials are currently carrying out a nationwide immunization campaign as they continue to urge the public to observe health protocols put forward to tackle the pandemic.
They have so far administered a total of 5, 055, 958 doses of Covid-19 vaccines across the nation.
At least 8, 852 of these doses were offered to the public in the past 24-hours, according to the ministry of health.
The ongoing vaccination drive in Ethiopia began on March 13, 2021. To date, the country has fully immunized more than 3.66 million people against the virus.
