Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 568 More Cases, 16 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia has reported 568 more Covid-19 infections and 16 related fatalities on Tuesday.

In its daily report, the Ministry of health reports the country identified the latest positive cases after testing nearly 8, 000 people in the past twenty-four hours.

Additional 16 more Covid-19-induced deaths and 752 recoveries have also been recorded in the same period, bringing the national death count to 6, 393 and total recoveries to 336, 914.

The country now has 19, 931 active cases. At least 484 of them are severely sick and are currently receiving treatment in medical centers, the report claims.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus infection on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 363, 240 cases after testing more than 3.66mln people.

Its health officials are currently conducting a nationwide vaccination campaign as part of its effort to contain the pandemic.

On Tuesday, 28,753 doses of covid vaccines were offered to the public, the report shows.

Ethiopia launched its vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, it has fully inoculated a total of 3, 287, 420 people against the virus.
