Ethiopia Adds 247 New Coronavirus Cases, 11 fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 247 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Sunday as the national case count reaches 362, 335.

The country confirmed the latest positive cases after conducting 7,377 tests in the last twenty-four hours, says its ministry of health in a Covid-19 report for the day.

Additional 11 people have also passed away due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, pushing the national death toll to 6,358.

There are now 22, 559 active cases nationwide. At least 523 of them are severely sick, the report indicates.

It also says as many as 2,471 patients have recuperated from Covid-19, taking the recovery tally to 335, 416.

Despite recording more recoveries than new infections, health officials are still urging the public to observe the health protocols put in place as they push ahead with its national immunization campaign.

On Sunday, only 7, 087 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been offered to the public, reveals the Ministry’s report.

Ethiopia started the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, it has fully vaccinated nearly 3.22 million people against the Covid-19.
