COVID-19: Ethiopia Reports 508 New Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 508 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Sunday, pushing the confirmed case tally to 359, 247, data from the Ministry of health shows.

The country identified the latest positive cases after testing 6, 456 tests in the last twenty-four hours.

In its daily report, the ministry says the national Covid-19 death toll has also reached 6, 217 after 20 patients died in the same period.

There are now 24, 066 confirmed active cases of Covid-19 nationwide. Of which, 599 patients are severely sick, reveals the report.

At least 441 patients have also recuperated from the disease in the reported period, bringing the recovery count to 328, 962.

As the country records more cases than recoveries, experts are urging the Ethiopians to observe the Covid-19 protocols put in place.

The public are also being urged to take the Covid-19 vaccine made available in health centers to protect themselves and their loved ones.

More than 22, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the last 24-hours, the report says.

Ethiopia started inoculating its citizens on March 13, this year. To date, it has fully vaccinated a total of 3, 042, 67 people against the Coronavirus.
