ADDIS ABABA – Jotun Group, one of the leading paint brands in the world, has inaugurated its factory in Ethiopia’s Adama Industry Park.

Based in Norway, Jotun is globally recognized and is a leading paint manufacturer supplying decorative paint, protective, marine and powder coatings.

Its company here, Jotun Ethiopia Paint,  inaugurated the group’s 42 factory on Friday in the presence of Daniel Teressa, Deputy Commissioner of Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), and Merete Lundemo, Ambassador of Norway to Ethiopia.

The factory has a capacity of producing 8 mln. liters of paint per year, according to EIC.

“The company is anticipated to add significant value to the paint industry,” it added.

The paints of Jotun appear on landmark buildings all over the world including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, inter alia.

The Company also has wide presence in Africa including manufacturing plants in Africa in Egypt, Algeria and South Africa, the Ethiopian unit being the fourth one.

Unlike its previous modes of entry into other economies, Jotun directly entered into Ethiopia by manufacturing rather than opening representative offices and supplying through agents.
