Ethiopia reports 778 new COVID-19 cases
ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia has registered 778 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, taking the nationwide tally of cases to 357, 550.
In its report for Thursday, health ministry announcers 38 new Covid-19-induced fatalities and 870 more recoveries on the same day, bringing the national death toll to 6, 141 and total recoveries to 326, 735.
Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous nation, has so far reported the largest number of COVID-19 cases in the East Africa region.
Currently, it has 24, 672 confirmed active cases, of whom 650 are severe.
The government is taking various measures to halt the pandemic including a national vaccination campaign.
On Thursday, the country has administered more than 22, 000 Covid-19 vaccine doses, according to the ministry.
The East African nation started the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, it has fully inoculated more than 3 million people against the coronavirus.
