COVID-19: Ethiopia Records 443 New Infections, 40 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 443 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and 40 related deaths on Sunday, reports the Ministry of health.

A total of 5, 352 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the latest positive cases.

The Covid-19 death toll has also reached 5, 990 after 40 patients died due to the acute respiratory disease in the same period, reveals the Ministry’s daily Covid-19 report.

There are now 745 critically sick patients getting medical treatment in ICUs, reveals the report which puts the national confirmed active cases tally at 24, 979.

It also says as many as 1, 492 patients have recuperated on Sunday, pushing the recovery count to 323, 505.

Health officials are still advising the public to take the Covid-19 vaccine made available in health centers to protect themselves and their loved ones as the death toll continue to rise.

The East African nation has administered a little over 5, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the last 24-hours, taking the total number doses provided close to 3.88 million.

Ethiopia started offering the Covid-19 vaccine on March 13, 2021. To date, it has fully vaccinated to more than 2.95 million of its citizens against the virus.
