Covid-19: Ethiopia Registers 845 New Cases, 23 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 845 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Saturday after testing 5, 169 people, reports the ministry of health.

The latest figure has pushed the national confirmed case tally recorded since the pandemic hit the country in March last year, to 322, 632.



A further 23 people have also died due to the acute respiratory disease in the day, taking the death toll to 4, 907.

Ethiopia now has 733 severely ill patients, says the Ministry’s daily report for the day that puts the active case tally at 27, 737.

As many as 1, 142 patients have recuperated from Covid-19, bringing the recovery count to nearly 290,000.

Although more recoveries were recorded on the day , health experts are still urging the public to observe the health advice put in place including wearing face masks, social distancing and proper hand washing.

The country is also pushing ahead with the national immunization campaign which saw close to 3, 800 people vaccinated against Covid-19 on Saturday.

The east african nation launched the vaccination drive on March 13, 2021. To date, it has offered more than 2.754 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to the public.
