Ethiopia Reports 1, 539 New COVID-19 Cases, 26 deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 1,539 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the national confirmed tally to more than 319, 000, ministry of health reports.
The country has identified the new positive cases after testing 8,353 people in the last twenty-four hours.
The ministry’s report also confirms 26 new COVID-19-related deaths and 883 more recoveries during the same period, pushing the national death toll to 4,830 and recovery count to 286,384.
To date, Ethiopia has conducted more than 3.3 million tests to identify a total of 319, 101infections.
The country currently has 27,885 active COVID-19 cases. About 726 of these infected people are severely sick, says the report.
Health officials are currently pushing ahead with the national immunization campaign as part of an effort to control the pandemic.
On Wednesday, over 72, 000 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been offered to the public, shows the Ministry’s report.
Health officials began the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13. Since then, they have administered more than 2.65mln doses of vaccine to the public across the nation.
