Covid-19: Ethiopia Reports 1,354 New Cases, 20 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 354 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Friday, taking the national case tally to 312, 348, reports the Ministry of Health.
The country tested nearly 7,000 people in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the new positive cases.
Additional 20 Covid-19 patients have also died in the reported period, pushing the death toll to 4, 731.
The country now has 27, 194 active cases. Of these, 696 patients are severely sick, says the report.
As many as 973 patients have recuperated from the respiratory disease on the day, bringing the recovery count to 280,421, the ministry’s report indicates.
In terms of the vaccination drive, the report shows at least 16, 538 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the 24-hours period.
Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
Since then, more than 2.51 million doses have been offered to the public across the nation.
