Ethiopia Records 1, 217 New Covid-19 Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1,217 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Wednesday, pushing the national confirmed cases tally to 309, 351.

The country confirmed the new positive infections after testing 7,278 people in the last twenty-four hours, says the Ministry in its daily Covid-19 report.



Additional 17 patients have also died due to health complications linked to the Coronavirus in the reported period. The figure has taken the national death toll to 4, 692.

There are now 620 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving medical attention in hospitals, says the report that puts the confirmed active cases tally at 26, 595.

As many as 1, 220 patients have also recuperated from the respiratory disease on the day, bringing the recovery count to 278, 062.

Vaccination Drive

Health officials are currently pushing ahead with the national immunization campaign as part of an effort to control the pandemic.

On Wednesday, at least 3,840 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been offered to the public, says the Ministry’s report.

Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.

Since then, a total of 2,455, 791 doses have been administrated to the public across the nation.
