ADDIS ABABA – French Minister of Culture, Franck Tiester, will be in Ethiopia for a two day official visit, say France embassy here.
Tiester’s visit, starting from Wednesday sept 18, is a follow-up of the cultural and heritage partnerships initiated between our two countries leaders – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Emmanuel Macron.
“Franck Riester will meet with the highest Ethiopian authorities and with the Lalibela and National Palace projects’ stakeholders,” says the embassy in a statement released on Friday.
The Minister will also bestow the French National Order of Arts and Letters on Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke, who is considered as the father of Ethio-jazz.
Other Ethiopian recipient of such honor include another Ethiopian musician Mahmoud Ahmed who has been given the award in 2016.
While in Addis, France’s minister of Culture will inaugurate the exhibition “20 years of Ethiopian contemporary painting” at the Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis Abeba, according to the embassy.
