Ethiopia Reports Zero Confirmed Death, 84 New Cases of Covid-19

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed 84 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and zero death on Monday, the Ministry of Health said.

In its daily Covid-19 report, the Ministry revealed at last 3, 447 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases.

It has also reported zero Coronavirus-related death for the first time in almost a week. The acute respiratory disease killed 4, 357 since the pandemic hit the country, last year.

There are now 138 critically ill Covid-19 patients who are receiving medical treatment in hospitals, says the report.

Today’s report also shows the number of active cases has dropped below 11, 000 mark after the recovery case outnumbered the new case on Monday.

At least 143 patients have recuperated from the disease caused by the Coronavirus, taking the recovery count to 262, 457, the ministry of health said.

The Ministry recorded Ethiopia’s first Coronavirus infection on March 13, 2020.
Since then, it has confirmed a total of 277, 780 cases after testing nearly 2.96 million people.

The East African nation also has inoculated close to 500 people against the the virus as it push ahead with its immunization campaign.

The figure has pushed the total number of vaccine doses that have been administered in Ethiopia to 2, 135, 430.

The country started the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.

The country also obtained additional 400, 000 AstraZeneca vaccine from the COVAX as well as 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm and 453,600 Doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine doses from the governments of China and the United States, respectively.
