Ethiopia Confirms 125 New Covid-19 Cases, One Death
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed 125 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and one death on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health report.
The report says close to 5, 600 tests conducted in the past 24-hours to identify the new positive cases.
One more person has passed away due to the acute respiratory disease on the day, bringing the Covid-19 death toll to 4, 350.
There are now 127 critically ill patients who are receiving medical treatment in Covid-19 hospitals, the report says. They are among the 10, 885 active cases in the country.
During the 24-hours, only 39 patients have also recuperated from the disease, according to the ministry.
Ethiopia reported its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 277, 443 cases after testing over 2.94 million people.
About 262, 206 of these patients have already recovered, according to today’s report.
The report also says the country has inoculated 13, 448 people against the the virus as it push ahead with its immunization campaign in Mid-March, this year.
As of Thursday evening, a total of 2, 099, 997 vaccine doses have been administered in Ethiopia.
The Ministry of health started the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility. The country also obtained more than 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine from China.
