ADDIS ABABA – More than 2,000 Ethiopian compatriots have returned home from Saudi Arabia on Wednesday as Ethiopia pushes ahead with its effort to bring citizens from various detention camps in the gulf nation.
An average of 2000 Ethiopians have been airlifted from the Saudi Arabia daily since the effort started fortnights ago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on 2, 042 came back to their country on Wednesday. Of the repatriates, the ministry said 229 are female and 136 are children.
Returnees have received warm welcome from officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs upon arrival at Bole International Airport.
Agency for Refugees and Returnees Affairs is working with various international partners to reinstate and reunite the returnees with their families.
