Ethiopia reports 106 More COVID-19 Cases, 2 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 106 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the nationwide tally to 277, 318, data from Ministry of Health reveals.

In its daily report, the Ministry said the country identified the positive cases after conducting over 5, 553 tests in the past twenty-four hours.

The ministry has also reported two new COVID-19 deaths and 65 more recoveries on the day, bringing the national death toll to 4,349 and total recoveries to 262, 167.

Ethiopia currently has 10, 800 active COVID-19 cases, of whom 125 are under severe health conditions, according to the report.

As part of their response to the pandemic, the Health officials are now providing Covid-19 vaccines people that are susceptible to the respiratory disease and essential workers.

In the past 24-hours, the country has inoculated 12, 772 people with Covid-19 vaccine, pushing the total number of vaccinated people to 2, 077, 549.

The vaccination campaign in Ethiopia began on March 13 – a week after the country obtained 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility. The country also received 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine from China.
