Ethiopia Records 168 More Covid-19 cases, 6 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed 168 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and six related deaths on Friday, data from the Ministry of Health revealed.

The country identified the positive cases after testing 5, 396 people in the past twenty-four hours.

A further six people have died due to the acute respiratory disease caused by coronavirus, pushing the Covid-19 death toll to 4, 302, claims the Ministry’s Covid-19 report for the day.

About 167 critically ill patients are also receiving treatment in Covid-19 medical centers, says the report that put the current confirmed active cases tally in the country at 13, 262.

The same report says at 774 people have also recovered after contracting the virus in the 24-hours period.

The East African nation Recorded its first coronavirus infection on March 13, last year.

Since then, its has tested nearly 2.84mln people to confirm 275, 769 cases. Of these, 258, 203 people have already recovered, according to today’s report.

It also shows only 408  people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 as the country continues to push ahead with its  immunization campaign on Friday.

As of Friday evening, nearly 1.99 million people have been inoculated in the vaccination campaign that started on March 13, 2021.

The East African nation obtained 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility, and 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine from the government of China.
