Police Investigating Death of Election Special Guest
ADDIS ABABA – Police are investigating the cause of the death of the foreign election special guest.
The man – reported to be a US citizen – was found dead in his room at RadissonBlu Hotel.
Addis Ababa Police Commission spokesperson, Commander Fasika Fanta said a cleaner found him dead when she entered the room and informed the police.
The police found the American lying dead on the floor and in his pocket were found an accreditation badge issued by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia for a special guest, identification cards, and a driving license.
The driving license is issued by California National Driving License, according to police.
Ned Price, the U.S. Department of States Spokesperson, has confirmed that him of as the citizen of United States.
“We can confirm the death of a U.S. citizen in Addis Ababa,” Price said, “Out of respect for the privacy of the family, we’re not able to offer anything further at this time, however”.
Addis Ababa Police said various types of medicines were found and that the cause appears to be a natural death.
“No injury or wounds were found on any part of his body,” City’s police spokesperson Fasika said.
The cause of the death is still a subject of an ongoing investigation that involves Addis Ababa and federal Police As well as the US Embassy in Ethiopia.
