Ethiopia Records 124 New Covid-19 Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 124 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Monday, pushing the confirmed tally to 175, 318, Ministry of Health said.

The country identified the new cases after conducting 3, 177 tests in the past twenty-four hours.



In its Covid-19 report, the ministry said three people have died as a result of the acute respiratory disease on the same day.

The latest figure has taken the total number of people who lost health complications linked to the Covid-19 to 4, 286.

There are now 204 critically ill Covid-19 patients who are receiving medical treatment in hospitals, claims the report that put the active cases count in Ethiopia at 15, 528.

In the same period, about 554 people recovered after contacting the virus.

The East African nation confirmed its first coronavirus infection on March 13, last year. Since then, its health officials tested nearly 2.83mln people to identify more than 275, 000 cases.

Of these, 255, 502 people have already recovered, today’s report shows.

For the first time since the start of a vaccination campaign, the country has failed to offer Covid-19 vaccine to its citizen on Monday.
