Ethiopia Records 214 New Covid-19 Infections, 4 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 214 more Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Friday after conducting 5, 568 medical tests, according to the Ministry of Health.

In its Covid-19 report today, the Ministry said the tests were conducted throughout the day.

The ministry also confirmed the death of 4 people in the same period due to health complications linked to the Covid-19.

To date, a total of 4, 235 people have lost their lives due to the respiratory disease.



Currently, at least 264 Covid-19 patients are receiving medical treatment after they became severely ill, says the report that put the national active cases tally at 20, 184.

Today’s report also claims at least 443 patients have recuperated from the disease, pushing the recovery tally to nearly 250, 000.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, last year. It has, so far, conducted more than 2.77mln medical tests to identify 273, 892 infections.

During the day, the country has continued to immunize its citizens and vaccinated nearly 12, 000 people against Covid-19.

As of Friday evening, a total of 1, 932, 522 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Ethiopia since the start of the beginning of the immunization campaign in mid-March, 2021.
